چکیده

BackgroundTelesurgery involves a remote surgeon operating on patient over distance using the internet to control surgical robot. Telesurgery could allow rural patients more equitable access lifesaving specialty procedures such as cardiac catheter ablation. Advances in telehealth adoption and robotics are lowering conceptual technical hurdles for this future method of healthcare delivery. Despite this, important questions remain regarding safe implementation telesurgery community hospitals. Initial experience with remote catheter ablation using a novel magnetic navigation system: magnetic remote catheter ablation.

BACKGROUND Catheters are typically stiff and incorporate a pull-wire mechanism to allow tip deflection. While standing at the patient's side, the operator manually navigates the catheter in the heart using fluoroscopic guidance. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 42 patients (32 female; mean age, 55+/-15 years) underwent ablation of common-type (slow/fast) or uncommon-type (slow/slow) atrioventri...

Remote Magnetic Navigation for Accurate, Real-time Catheter Positioning and Ablation in Cardiac Electrophysiology Procedures

New remote navigation systems have been developed to improve current limitations of conventional manually guided catheter ablation in complex cardiac substrates such as left atrial flutter. This protocol describes all the clinical and invasive interventional steps performed during a human electrophysiological study and ablation to assess the accuracy, safety and real-time navigation of the Cath...

A systematic review of the effectiveness of catheter ablation NavX mapping system for treatment of the cardiac arrhythmia

Background: Catheter ablation is widely used for treatment of atrial fibrillation. The use of fluoroscopic and non-fluoroscopic mapping systems in catheter ablation is common. This study conducted to investigate the safety and effectiveness of Navx non-fluoroscopic mapping system.   Methods : In this study, the appropriate electronic databases including Cochrane Library and Ovid Medline searc...

Nonthermal cardiac catheter ablation using photodynamic therapy.

BACKGROUND Radiofrequency ablation has limitations, largely related to creation of lesions by heating. Here, we report the first nonthermal ablation by applying photodynamic therapy (PDT) to cardiac tissues using a custom-made deflectable laser catheter. The present study investigated the feasibility of PDT for cavotricuspid isthmus ablation in a canine model. METHODS AND RESULTS We evaluated...
